“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.”

— Richard James Molloy

The inception of Nkoroi Catholic Parish began back in the nineties when it was then known as St. Charles Lwanga. There is an African proverb that states, ‘No one tests the depth of a river with both feet.’ The Church is built everyday with new ideas and thoughts. Evangelization today needs care and diligence.  The pastoral we do every day is called to march the signs of our times. We are all working for the kingdom of God and as a Parish; we take aboard all our Christians with joy and peace.

Nkoroi Catholic Parish is run by the Order of Carmelites under the Diocese of Ngong. The Carmelites are a Religious Order present in all continents. Nkoroi became a parish on 4th February, 2007.

The Church was initially called St. Charles Lwanga. Immediately after its inauguration, the name Our Lady of Mt. Carmel was added. This is because the Parish is served by the Order of Carmelites, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel is their Patroness, hence the name Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Charles Lwanga. They are its Patron Saints.

The Nkoroi Catholic Community is served by the Order of  Carmelites with Fr. Boniface M. Kimondolo O.Carm being its Father-in-Charge and Fr. Onesmus Muthoka O.Carm as the assistance priest. With them, are two more Carmelite priests (Patrick Musyimi and Denis Omae)  and many Carmelite Brothers who are under formation to become future Carmelite priests.

The Parish has one Outstation, St. Bakhita, Merisho which is just 2.5 km far from the main Church.

God bless His Church.

Fr. Boniface O.Carm.
